Preparation Method

  • Soak together raw rice, par boiled rice, urad dhal, fenugreek seeds and grind to a fine paste.
  • Mix curd and salt.
  • Close with a lid and ferment it overnight.
  • Grate the coconut and extract milk.
  • Add cooking soda, required amount of coconut milk, water and mix well.
  • Prepare to a free flowing batter.
  • Boil water with five tablespoon of rice flour.
  • When the rice is done and the porridge thickens. Remove from fire.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Mix it to the ground batter.
  • Heat the appam pan. Take a ladle of the batter and pour it at the centre of the pan.
  • Swirl the pan and close with a lid.
  • When the appam is done, serve with coconut milk.
