Preparation Method

  • Soak the beans for six hours.
  • Pressure cook and keep aside.
  • Chop the brinjals lengthwise.
  • Soak the tamarind and extract the juice.
  • Grind together chilli, coriander powder, cumin seed , pepper corns, grated coconut, garlic and fenugreek to a fine paste.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed pan with tamarind extract, dried beans, brinjal and allow it to boil.
  • Heat a pan with Idhayam Sesame Oil.
  • Temper mustard, curry leaves and add the ground masala.
  • Simmer to a low flame and fry.
  • Add the fried masala to the tamarind extract, along with salt, turmeric powder and stir well.
  • Allow it to boil.
  • When the gravy thickens, remove from fire and serve hot.
