Toor dhal 200 gms
Big onion 2
Green chilli 2
Coriander leaves 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Red chilli 4
Cumin seed 2 teaspoon
Grated coconut 1 tablespoon
Tamarind 1 lemon sized
Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
Mustard 1 teaspoon
Salt as required
Idhayam Sesame Oil 50ml
Preparation Method
Soak toor dhal for an hour and grind it.
Chop two onion and green chillies finely.
Mix one chopped onion, green chillies, salt and coriander leaves to the toor dhal batter.
Make into small balls and keep aside.
Grind red chillies, cumin seed and grated coconut to a fine paste.
Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice.
Heat a broad pan with Idhayam Sesame Oil
Temper mustard, add curry leaves, saute rest of onion till translucent.
Add the ground masala, turmeric powder and salt to the tamarind extract.
Pour the tamarind extract and allow it to boil in a low flame.
Flip the dhal balls into the gravy.
Once the dhal balls are cooked and the gravy thickens, remove from fire.
