Preparation Method

  • Soak raw rice, par boiled rice, urad dhal, fenugreek and grind it.
  • Add curd and salt to the batter and mix  well.
  • Boil one cup of water with three tablespoon of rice flour.
  • Simmer to a low flame and allow it to cook till the rice comes to a porridge consistency.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Mix it to the batter.
  • Add jaggery powder to required amount of water and mix well till it dissolves.
  • Then add it to the batter.
  • Close with a lid and allow it to ferment over night.
  • Mix cooking soda to the batter before use.
  • Heat a appa chatti. Pour the batter to the centre and swirl it.
  • Close with a lid.
  • Cook till the appam is done..
  • Serve hot.
  • Optional: Garnish with ground nuts and grated coconut.
