Preparation Method

  • Soak raw rice, par boiled rice, urad dhal and grind it.
  • Allow it to ferment overnight.
  • Make rice porridge with three tablespoon of rice flour and water.
  • Allow it to cool and mix it to the fermented batter.
  • Extract coconut.
  • Beat the egg with sugar.
  • To this add fennel, ghee, coconut milk, salt and stir well. Mix everything along with the batter.
  • Heat an appam pan, pour a ladle of batter and swirl the pan in a circle motion, close with a lid and let it cook.
  • Remove from fire and serve.
