Preparation Method

  • Wash the fish and keep aside.
  • Soak the tamarind and extract the juice.
  • Chop the shallots, garlic and tomatoes finely.
  • Heat a pan with Idhayam Sesame Oil.
  • Temper mustard, add curry leaves, fenugreek and cumin seed.
  • Saute shallots and garlic.
  • Add tomatoes and fry well.
  • While frying tomatoes, add two teaspoons of chettinad masala powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and fry well.
  • Add the tamarind extract.
  • If required add water and allow it to boil.
  • When it becomes thick add the fish pieces one by one.
  • Sprinkle chettinad masala.
  • When the fishes are done and the gravy thickens, remove from fire and serve.
