Preparation Method

  • Boil four cups of water in a pressure cooker.
  • Add rice and chana dhal.
  • When it whistles, simmer to a low flame for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from fire.
  • Boil water and dissolve the jaggery.
  • Filter it in a clean muslin cloth.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed pan with the filtered jaggery, cooked dhal and rice mixture, two cups of milk, simmer  to a low flame for five minutes.
  • Allow it to boil.
  • Add the chopped coconut bits, rest of the coconut milk, cardamom powder, and let it for twenty minutes, and stir well.
  • When it becomes to a thick consistency, remove from fire.
  • Heat a mini pan with ghee.
  • Roast the cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Add this to the kadala pradhaman mix well and serve.
