Preparation Method

  • Chop the drumstick into two inch long piece.
  • Dice the tomatoes.
  • Split the red chillies.
  • Soak the tamarind and extract it.
  • Dry roast the fenugreek and pound it.
  • Heat a pan with fifty ml of Idhayam sesame oil.
  • When it becomes hot flip the drumstick and deep fry it.
  • Heat another pan with three tablespoons of Idhayam sesame oil.
  • Saute tomatoes, along with turmeric powder and salt.
  • Fry till the tomato is soft and mushy.
  • Add the fried drumstick pieces and stir for five minutes.
  • Pour the tamarind extract, add chilli powder, fenugreek powder, salt and stir well.
  • When everything blends together remove from fire.
  • Heat another pan with a tablespoon of Idhayam sesame oil temper mustard, when it splutters add chana dhal, urad dhal, split red chillies and add it to the drumstick chutney and serve.
