Preparation Method

  • Peel the skin of the ridge gourd and chop into pieces.
  • Cook chana dhal and keep aside.
  • Dice the tomato and green chillies.
  • Combine chana dhal, ridge gourd and cook.
  • Don't overcook.
  • Heat a pan with a tablespoon of Idhayam sesame oil. Add garlic paste, tomatoes, green chillies, cumin powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and fry for a minute.
  • Add the dhal ridge gourd mixture.
  • Add salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from fire.
  • Heat another pan with tablespoon of Idhayam sesame oil.
  • Temper mustard, split red chillies, curry leaves and pour it over the ridge dhal mixture.
  • Add coriander leaves, stir well and serve with roti, phulka or chappati.
