Preparation Method

  • Soak the dried peas in water overnight or allow it to soak for eight hours.
  • Soak and grind the urad dhal to a fine batter.
  • Pound together roasted chana dhal, pepper corn, cumin seed  and fennel finely.
  • Chop the onions finely.
  • Add the pound spices, salt and mix it to the urad dhal batter.
  • Heat a deep frying pan with Idhayam Sesame Oil, when it becomes hot, take a lemon sized ball of the batter, flatten it and make a hole in the centre.
  • Flip the vadas in hot oil and fry till crisp and golden brown.
  • Serve hot.
