Preparation Method

  • Soak the dhal for two hours.
  • Grind the moong dhal coarsely.
  • Grind together grated coconut, green chilli and asafoetida to a fine paste.
  • Mix dhal, the ground paste, salt, cooking soda and keep aside.
  • Heat a pan with a teaspoon of Idhayam Sesame Oil.
  • Temper mustard and add to the ground dhal and mix.
  • Grease the idli plates with Idhayam Sesame Oil, pour the batter in each mould and steam it.
  • Serve hot.
