Preparation Method

  • Wash the dry salted fish.
  • Grind together cumin seed , shallots and red chillies.
  • Chop the big onions finely.
  • Slit the green chillies.
  • Soak the tamarind and extract the juice.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed pan with Idhayam sesame oil.
  • Temper curry leaves, add green chillies, garlic and stir.
  • Add the ground masala and fry till the raw smell goes.
  • Pour the tamarind extract, turmeric powder, salt and allow it to boil.
  • Cook in on a low flame. Add the dry fish, cook until the oil separates from the gravy.
  • Serve hot.
